RA’KERRY RAHMAN, M.D.

Ra’Kerry Rahman, M.D. is the founder of HSSI and leads our surgical team. He completed medical school at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry in 2005, earning his Doctorate of Medicine with Honors and Distinction in Research. He completed his orthopedic residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital at Columbia University, where he chose to focus in spine surgery. He served as chief resident from 2009-2010.

Following his residency, Dr. Rahman elected to take a special fellowship in cervical spine and spinal deformity at Washington University.

Dr. Rahman served as Chief of Adult Spinal Deformity and as a pediatric scoliosis specialist at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He was also an Assistant Professor of Spinal Surgery. He completed a second fellowship with Dr. Larry Lenke’s Complex Spinal Deformity Advanced Apprenticeship. This apprenticeship focused on the most complex pediatric and adult spinal deformity cases.

Dr. Rahman is a member of:

  • Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society
  • The Society Of Lateral Access Surgery (SOLAS)

Additionally, Dr. Rahman has published more than ten scientific articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, has given presentations at academic meetings across the United States, and has been involved in major research projects since the late 1990s.

Dr. Rahman has volunteered in Ghana, Mexico, and Columbia for three weeks performing complex spinal deformity surgery and providing outreach for the underserved.

When not at work, Dr. Rahman enjoys spending time traveling and enjoying Houston with his wife and two small children.

Khaled J. Saleh, MD

Khaled Saleh, M.D. is an award-winning, board-certified orthopedic surgeon who performed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Toronto and held fellowships in Health Research Methodology at the University of McMaster and Health Services Research through the Medical Research Council of Canada and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Additionally, he performed a clinical fellowship with Lower Extremity Reconstruction and Revision Joint Surgery at the University of Toronto Mount Sinai Hospital, as well as a fellowship in adult reconstruction at the University of Cornell Medical College Hospital for Special Surgery.

Dr. Saleh has not only been dedicated to his own education through numerous fellowships and degrees, but he also is devoted to educating his peers and medical students. Currently, he is appointed as the Professor of Surgery at Michigan State University. He also serves as the Section Head for Surgical Health Services Research at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Detroit. Dr. Saleh is also the Emeritus Executive in Chief of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Detroit Medical Hospital System.

Dr. Saleh has also written and published over 240 peer-reviewed papers, and he gives lectures all over the world at such institutions as Mayo Clinic, Harvard, Cleveland Clinic, Brown University, Cambridge UK, Oxford, and John Hopkins. Dr. Saleh is an innovative leader in his field who has helped develop and validate classification systems for total knee replacement; he also holds five patents in TKA design.

In addition to a long list of accolades, Dr. Saleh continues to innovate in the orthopedic and regenerative health field. What’s more, he devotes his time to his charity, FAJR Scientific, with a mission of helping develop evidence for safer, better, and more accessible healthcare.
